The No. 1 Davis Darts beat No. 7 Northridge in a key Davis Conference battle. The Darts scored early and often, leading to a 18-4 rout.
“We started fast and let up in the second quarter but then finished the game strong,” said Davis Head Coach Trevor Yocom. “We’re pretty excited, especially over a rival.”
The Darts scored a minute into the game when midfielder Brock Beyer took it down the right side, jumped and bounced it in. Davis applied high pressure on defense, forcing several turnovers. The Davis offense moved the ball well which caught the Northridge defenders by surprise. The Darts consistently scored on almost every possession in the first quarter, earning them a 7-0 lead.

Davis scored off the second quarter opening face-off when Taylor Wallwork got the ball of the face and took it through the entire Northridge defense for the goal. Northridge scored their first goal at the 8:24 mark in the second quarter on a goal by Dallon Wilkes. Davis then scored two man-up goals within 40 seconds to take a 10-1 lead. Davis scored again but Northridge answered with two goals of their own to make the score 11-3. Penalties littered the last four minutes of the game with seven total penalties being recorded.
The Darts defense clamped down the third quarter by not allowing Northridge to find space or get in a rhythm. The Darts offense continued to score, taking a 16-3 lead into the fourth quarter.
Northridge would find the net but Davis scored two more times, securing an 18-4 win.
“Our offense moved the ball well and our defense did well in the man-down situations,” said Yocom.
Davis Goalie Berklee Baskin had 12 saves. Each team won 12 face-offs. Davis was led by Junior Attackmen Josh Gee who had 4 goals and 3 assists.
With the win, Davis won the Davis Conference with a perfect 3-0 record in conference play.
