2012 Boys D-I Playoff Bracket

The refs at the Alta v PG game SUCKED!!!  ULA needs to do something about the referees.  Make them review video of the games get better trained.

    • Tompon1

There were 29 flags thrown! It was a joke! And NOT one sided- 14 penalties for Alta, 15 penalties for PG.

    • AltaLAXfan

Unfortunately, I have to agree.  The referees were the worst that I have seen all year.  This is the playoffs.  The league should have the best refs – just like the teams.  The league needs to review the performance of the refs by watching the tapes.  Very unfortunate to have this type of performance by the refs.  Let the boys be the focus – not the refs.

I have to agree.  Utah Lax has got to train these guys better.  I’ve seen to many times calls made and then come to the table and changed.  Theres a lot of bias on the referees part.  It’s totally obvious!!!!  It’s hurting the game.  They have go to go back and look at video on this.  There have been multiple times that referees are talking to players and it’s totally inapropriate.  Throw a flag for conduct, but trash talk players?  I hope the coaches counsel can help clean this up for next year.

Bountiful Rules! ’08-’09? Need I say more? “Best teams to ever play in Utah.” – the Lax Swami

    • laxtastic

Obviously a player from the 08 09 teams. Iike the school spirit though!!

Who ever started that program must of been legit.  A Wizard even

Some great games today! I think Alta v. PG and Juan Diego v. Timpanogos are going to be fantastic on Saturday. I see Judge winning easily and Brighton pulling off the ‘upset’

Unbelievable Bingham Goalie action from 10th grader Scott Bronson with 18 saves (78%)! Too bad the offense couldn’t do their part.

    • laxtastic

The only thing is here is that Brighton beating Bountiful won’t be a upset!

      • laxtastic

I said that thinking Bountiful would have Jace Thomas. But even if they would have had him they would have lost 11-4 or 11-5.  Brighton was definitely the better team.

  • hhlax

I don’t see any potential first round upsets. Brighton seems to be in a funk so maybe Bingham can win?

    • lovelax

What about park city and juan diego? What park city team do you think will show up?

  • laxtastic

The Bountiful vs. Davis Game didn’t dissapoint.  Better team definitely won.  Davis jumped out 3-0, but just couldn’t keep it going.  You aren’t going to win many games when you give up 13 in the first half.  Bountiful isn’t great, but they are the best in the North.  Davis should be able to secure the 2 seed with a win at Viewmont on Wed.

  • hhlax

When it comes down to it, the Champion will be the Champion, no matter who they played in what round. I realize it’s tough to see, IN THEORY, the best match-ups in the first rounds, but what else is the ULA supposed to do? I’m curious if anyone has a legitimate way to make fair brackets…

An absolute shame having SL and Sandy conferences play in the final 4. I am NOT discounting the South conference as Lone Peak and Timpanogos have some talent, but the North conference talent does a nose dive after Bountiful. 6 of the top 10 come from SL & Sandy conferences. Oh well.

    • laxtastic

North isn’t as strong as the rest, but I wouldn’t say nose dive after Bountiful.  Davis beat Bountiful last year in a non conference game early in the year.  Davis beat Lone Peak 8-7 in a hard fought game last week.  It should be either bountiufl the #1 seed out of the north or Davis whoever wins that head to head game.

no it wasn’t last year the salt lake conference played sandy in the first round. are you sure they are gonna be playing each other again? that would be ludicrous to have the best two conferences play each other in the first round.

Salt Lake played South last year. See this page for the brackets from last year: http://www.utahlacrossenews.com/2011-playoffs/

      • smeegs_6

oh i see i didn’t see that alta switched conferences this year

  • whiskerino

All of the first round matchups are Sandy vs. SLC? Really?
