Pilot Hired to Lead Fremont
02.14.2012 - By Tim Haslam

Fremont SilverwolvesThe Fremont Boys Lacrosse team has hired Steve Pilot to navigate the helm for the Silverwolves this season.

Pilot grew up in Wisconsin and had no exposure to lacrosse until his youngest son, Cody who plays for Utah, got involved as a freshman at Fremont.

“I said, yeah, let’s do it and we were pretty excited until I got the bill and then I was kind of shocked,” said Pilot. “At that time there was only one coach and I was there watching practice all the time so I asked the coach if there was anything he needed help with to let me know and that’s what started it all off. Next thing you know I’m busier then ever painting fields and fixing goals and then I was running drills.”

The following season, Pilot and his wife became the parent reps but had some coaches that didn’t grasp the passion of it and eventually the board elected Pilot to be the next head coach.

“We have a lot of returning players that I’m really excited about,” said Pilot. “We also have some young players that have played in our youth program and they grasp the game and just need some more tweaking. I’m excited to see what we have. We have talent and we just need to put it together and see what happens.”

On the defensive side of the field, Ben Marsh, Carson Pilot and Collin LeCuyer will be the stronghold while Cody Rebmann and Jake Morris will lead the offense.

The Silverwolves will face the Highland Rams on March 18 in Salt Lake City to kick off the 2012 season.
