Brett Moyer
College: Hofstra (NCAA D-I)
Hometown: Ridley, Pennsylvania
Favorite Lacrosse Memory: Winning a Gold Medal with the US Team at the U-19 World Games and winning back-to-back Championships with the Philadelphia Barrage

ULN: What are you looking forward to the most while in Utah for LXM 801 both on and off the field?
BM: Looking forward to playing in a very competitive professional lacrosse game with some of the best lacrosse players in the world to Salt Lake City. Interacting with youth, middle, and high school players and fans is also a great off the field experience for all involved as other Professional Sports don’t provide this kind of opportunity.

ULN: Have you ever been to Utah? If so, what are you excited to do/see again? If not, what have you heard about the state?
BM: Yes, I have been to Park City, Utah for a lacrosse tournament in which I was coach of Team Relentless. It is beautiful and will be excited to see how the growth of the game is from being there 3 years ago.

ULN: What have you heard about lacrosse in Utah?
BM: Just that the game is growing just like it is around the country.

ULN: What is one piece of advice that you tell kids who want to get better at lacrosse?
BM: Practice makes perfect, so practice with a purpose. Don’t go through the motions.

ULN: What is the slogan or motto that has helped you the most in your lacrosse career?
BM: Train, practice, and play as hard as you can every time you step on the field. Listen to your coaches and always look to see what you can do to be a better player, but more importantly a better teammate.

Whit McCarthy
College: Colby (NCAA D-III)
Hometown: Darien, Connecticut

ULN: What are you looking forward to the most while in Utah for LXM 801 both on and off the field?
WM: I’m looking forward to Team Sole really hitting our stride with our offensive and defensive systems.

ULN: Have you ever been to Utah? If so, what are you excited to do/see again? If not, what have you heard about the state?
WM: I’ve been camping in Moab, Arches National Park. That place is amazing.

ULN: What have you heard about lacrosse in Utah?
WM: I’ve heard nothing but great things about Utah lacrosse, mostly from our boy Tom Muldoon.  I hear that there is a lot of athleticism, and the game is picking up some serious traction in the state.

ULN: What is one piece of advice that you tell kids who want to get better at lacrosse?
WM: Everything comes down to practice and how much you want it.  Very simply, to be great, you need to put the time in.  Raw athleticism can only take you so far.

ULN: What is the slogan or motto that has helped you the most in your lacrosse career?
WM: The motto that has helped me most in my lacrosse career is rule #71…”No excuses, play like a champion.” Excuses can’t exist in a competitive environment. You need to give it everything you have, whether it is on the field, in the weight room, or wall ball. Don’t let excuses hold you back. That, and…”everybody wang chung tonight.”
