For Immediate Release – HEADstrong Lacrosse Club Utah

HEADstrong Utah LogoThe HEADstrong Lacrosse Club Utah will take part in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s annual Light The Night walk on October 13, 2012. The event will be at Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake City.

During the walk around the park, each person carries an illuminated balloon. A white ballon signifies the person is a cancer survivor, a red ballon is for supporters and a gold ballon is in memory of loved ones lost to cancer.

“I had not heard about HEADstrong Lacrosse prior to their calling me about Light The Night,” said Senior Campaign Manger for LLS, Kristen Ricks. “I attended a kickoff for their participation in our fundraising walk last week and was amazed at the excitement & willingness to get involved in the community in such a united effort. Leukemia is the number one cancer killer of our youth & young adults under the age of 20. HEADstrong Lacrosse team members are each committing to raise $100 in this fight against cancer by participating in Light The Night.”

The HEADstrong team will be there in their lime green jerseys, a token to HEADstrong Founder Nick Colleluori, who passed away in 2006 due to a strain of lymphoma after starting the HEADstrong Foundation.

“Team HEADstrong Utah is honored to be part of the Light the Night campaign and walk,” said Team HEADstrong Director Mark Dempsey. “Participation in Light the Night is a requirement for all or our players. Participation in Light the Night is what sets Team HEADstrong Utah apart from other competitive lacrosse programs. The players have been told from the beginning they wear Lime for a reason. Now they will experience first-hand what that reason is. Our participation in Light the Night will allow us to honor HEADstrong Foundation founder Nick Colleluori and those in our personal lives who have or are battling cancer.”

The team is currently seeking donations that will be used in helping to reach the goal of $10,000 to donate towards cancer research. If you would like to donate, please talk to a member of the HEADstrong club or donate to the general HEADstrong team by CLICKING HERE.
