Wasatch LC To Hold 2018 Tryouts
01.26.2018 - By Matt Anderson

Wasatch LC recently announced their tryout dates for the 2018 season. Separate tryout sessions will be held on March 3 and March 24 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Attendance at both is not required.

Director and Co-Head Coach Danny Larkin said that expectations are high for the club. “We try to recruit athletes who we feel can compete at the collegiate level, whether that’s MCLA or NCAA,” said Larkin. “We want players that are athletic and can pick up on coaching tips easily and are willing to learn.”

The lacrosse club has provided opportunities for players to be recruited by colleges since 2012. According to their website, Wasatch LC has sent over 46 players to play at the collegiate level. That includes schools such as Lehigh, Jacksonville, Bryant and Utah among others.

As impressive as the club’s alumni base is, so too is their 2018 schedule. Wasatch LC will start off the summer slate of games by attending the Summer Inside Lacrosse Recruiting Invitational held June 16-18.

Wasatch LC also played in the Fall Inside Lacrosse Recruiting Invitational, where the team took second place in the 2018 division with a 4-2 finish. Three of their players were named to the all-tournament team.

Wasatch LC will next travel to Colorado to play in the U-19 Vail Shootout during June 24-27. After a few days rest, the team will travel to the Scarlet Knights Summer Invitational held July 7-8. Wasatch LC will then have a quick turnaround and will play in the Apex Summer Invitational. “We are one of eight teams in the country to be invited,” Larkin said. “We are the only team west of Ohio to get invited.” Recruiters from colleges such as Princeton and Harvard will be in attendance.

The format of the tryout will include skill-specific drills, as well as scrimmaging.
