Fremont Silverwolves

The Quarterfinals are upon us and each remaining team has a lot on the line for Saturday’s games. Because there were no upsets in D-II in the first round, there are no conference match-ups in the quarterfinals and none of the teams have yet matched up with their upcoming opponents this season. This will make each and every game that much more interesting.

Lehi has had a pretty good season so far. The Pioneers have several guys who really know how to score. They also have a strong set of face-off middies. If they can get the ball on offense, they will be able to score. Ian Hullinger will be the guy to look to for points. Hullinger is one of the top scorers in the division, averaging just over 5 points a game. He will receive a lot of help from Ryan Johnson who is coming in at just over 4 points a game. Read More

It has been an interesting season for Division II with many teams having had their ups and downs. Each team that has made it to playoffs has some spectacular players and there are surely going to be some interesting match-ups. Out of the 8 match-ups in the first round, only two of the teams have played each other this season, so every game will be that much more exciting.

2013-Herriman-Skyline-Boys-Lacrosse-06Timpview Thunderbirds @ Skyline Eagles

Timpview has a conference record of 4-5 and an overall record of 6-5, a great improvement over their record last year of 0-11. Midfielder McCade Rose leads the team in scoring and ground balls. They also have a strong face-off middie in Will Watanabe.

Skyline will enter the playoffs as the number two team in the division. Skyline was undefeated in conference play at 9-0 and had an overall record of 11-4. This is Skyline’s first season as a D-II team and ended last season with a 2-11 record. The Eagles have a few weapons in the Kadish brothers, Ian and Lane as well as attackman Matthew Hart and face-off middie Colton Goates. The Eagles also have a strong goalie in Austin Dorius, who allows only 4.8 goals per game. Read More

Box Elder v. FremontTuesday night brought an absolutely magnificent game where the Fremont Silverwolves and Box Elder Bees kept the fans on the edge of their seats until the game winning goal was scored with a mere 12 seconds left in the game by Fremont Senior Trevor Ingram,  leaving Box Elder out in the cold, literally and figuratively, with the final score being 13-12 for the Silverwolves.

From the get go the two teams came out fighting, but the first quarter undoubtedly went to Fremont, who scored 5 goals to Box Elders 1. But the Bee’s, behind a great surge of offensive dominance shown by Junior Attacksman Breckin Gunter and the rest of the Bee’s offense, gave the fans a game that at halftime was a definite nail biter with a score of 8-7. Fremont SilverwolvesThe Fremont Boys Lacrosse team has hired Steve Pilot to navigate the helm for the Silverwolves this season.

Pilot grew up in Wisconsin and had no exposure to lacrosse until his youngest son, Cody who plays for Utah, got involved as a freshman at Fremont.

“I said, yeah, let’s do it and we were pretty excited until I got the bill and then I was kind of shocked,” said Pilot. “At that time there was only one coach and I was there watching practice all the time so I asked the coach if there was anything he needed help with to let me know and that’s what started it all off. Next thing you know I’m busier then ever painting fields and fixing goals and then I was running drills.” Read More
