Lehi LacrosseMurray traveled to Lehi this afternoon for both teams’ first game of the season, and while Murray fought hard for four quarters, the young Spartan squad just couldn’t keep up with the preseason No. 8 Pioneers, falling 19-0 in a shutout. Lehi started their dominance at the faceoff X, with Pioneer faceoff man Steve Schoebinger going for 13 of 14 on midfield draws. First-year Lehi Head Coach Cameron Sabin said of Schoebinger, “this is his third year [taking faceoffs] and he’s been working with the younger guys on our team,” and it showed as the other Pioneer faceoff men went 9 of 10 at the center X. The Salt Lake Conference will see some changes this season since Skyline has moved from D-I to D-II and West moving to the Davis Conference. Last year, Waterford won the conference followed by West Jordan, East, Highland and Murray.

The East Leopards finished the season with a 4-10 record last year, losing in the first round of the playoffs to Box Elder. East is losing only three seniors and will be returning a lot of key players. Some of those key players are Daniel “Deen” Anderson, Brandon Boren and Mike Anderson. Read More

Murray LacrosseThe Murray boys lacrosse team has hired Michael Mahoney as the head coach for the 2013 season.

Mahoney is from Centreville, Virginia which is near Washington D.C. Mahoney moved to Utah in January of 2012 after visiting friends who went to Westminster College and is currently attending SLCC in hopes of going into Sports Management.

“I’m looking forward to getting to know the lay of the land for Utah Lacrosse and helping our players get better over the season,” said Mahoney.

Mahoney started playing lacrosse in 2004 for his local youth team in Virginia and went on to play 4 years for Paul VI High School in Fairfax, Virginia. Mahoney has also played on a few club teams including Paul VI Club Team and the Manassas Generals competing in tournaments up and down the East Coast. Read More

Rich is that type of person he will do anything that he can to help those around him. Rich took a trip during the season for 2 weeks to the Philippines where he taught school for a week, helped dig a well and raised money for a water pump, he also maintains a 3.5 GPA and is always looking for the next service opportunity which included recently reading to the kids at Guadalupe School.” – Brighton Head Coach Brandon Horoba Read More

Spanish Fork stayed at the top spot in the South Conference with a 7-6 win over Lehi last Tuesday. In the Davis Conference, Box Elder continues to roll but Syracuse is right on their heels. Waterford and West Jordan are both 3-0 in Salt Lake Conference play which will make their match this week very meaningful. Mountain Crest has clinched the No. 1 seed in the North Conference, but Logan and Sky View will fight for the No. 2 seed this week.
