Timpview Thunderbirds

It has been an interesting season for Division II with many teams having had their ups and downs. Each team that has made it to playoffs has some spectacular players and there are surely going to be some interesting match-ups. Out of the 8 match-ups in the first round, only two of the teams have played each other this season, so every game will be that much more exciting.

Timpview has a conference record of 4-5 and an overall record of 6-5, a great improvement over their record last year of 0-11. Midfielder McCade Rose leads the team in scoring and ground balls. They also have a strong face-off middie in Will Watanabe.

Skyline will enter the playoffs as the number two team in the division. Skyline was undefeated in conference play at 9-0 and had an overall record of 11-4. This is Skyline’s first season as a D-II team and ended last season with a 2-11 record. The Eagles have a few weapons in the Kadish brothers, Ian and Lane as well as attackman Matthew Hart and face-off middie Colton Goates. The Eagles also have a strong goalie in Austin Dorius, who allows only 4.8 goals per game. Read More

Orem v. Timpview lacrosse

In a game with good possessions by both offenses, a myriad of shots taken, and some great transition play, you’d expect to see big numbers on the board, but the first half of the game between the Orem Tigers and Timpview Thunderbirds was the polar opposite.  Staunch defenses on both sides of the ball deflected shots and kept the ball from getting inside for almost the entirety of the first two quarters of play.  The final score of 10-5 in favor of Orem came almost exclusively in the second half of a game that saw a 3-2 score at halftime.

“It’s frustrating because we know we can compete at a high level,” said Orem Head Coach Jordan Gardner, “we just started slow.” Read More

Box Elder v. TimpviewAfter going winless last year, the Timpview Thunderbirds got the monkey off their backs early this season, using a huge third quarter to knock-off the visiting No. 6 Box Elder Bees, 12-8, on Saturday afternoon.

“We got knocked down, and knocked down, and knocked down, but we kept getting back up…all of the hard work and heart from last year paid off,” said Timpview Head Coach Jesse Thorpe when asked about the T-Bird’s first win in two seasons. The win certainly didn’t come easy. Read More
