Prodigy Play of the Year

Prodigy Network, Utah Lacrosse Association, Utah Lacrosse NewsProdigy Network, the Utah Lacrosse Association and Utah Lacrosse News are pleased to announce the Prodigy Play of the Year Contest.

About the Prodigy Play of the Year
Beginning on March 12, 2012, fans of lacrosse will be able to vote on Utah Lacrosse News for the Prodigy Play of the Week which will be chosen from the Top 10 Prodigy Play of the Game clips from the previous week. The ten Play of the Game clips will be uploaded to Utah Lacrosse News each Monday during the regular season and fans will have until Wednesday night to vote for their favorite highlight from that week. The play with the most votes will become the Prodigy Play of the Week and will be announced every Thursday.

At the end of the season, leading up to the High School Championship games, fans will vote for their favorite Play of the Week. The play with the most votes will become the 2012 Prodigy Play of the Year. The team that the winner played for will receive $1,000 worth of Prodigy Network services for 2013. Additionally, the Utah Lacrosse Association will give the team a $500 General Scholarship.

The Prodigy Play of the Year goes to Chris Severson of Bingham for his behind-the-back shot against Copper Hills!

Week 1 Winner
The first Prodigy Play of the Week award goes to Pleasant Grove Attackmen Michael Perry. In the play, Perry gets a pass from near the top of the box, takes a few steps looking to rip it but pulls his stick in, dodges the defender and scores on a behind-the-back shot for the great goal.

Week 2 Winner
The second Prodigy Play of the Week award goes to Timpanogos Attackmen Winston Farley. In the play, after a uncontrolled save by Copper Hills, Farley scoops up the loose ball in front of the crease, dives and shoots for the goal.

Week 3 Winner
The third Prodigy Play of the Week award goes to the Brighton Girls, specifically Amy Johnston and Ellie Carpenter. In the play, Johnston drives from behind the goal, drawing the defense. She then finds Carpenter wide open for the great goal.

Week 4 Winner
The fourth Prodigy Play of the Week award goes to the Brighton Girls for the second straight week. In the play, Noelle Misewicz gets the ball and ducks under two defenders sticks, drives to the goal and shoots over the goalies shoulder for the Brighton goal.

The fifth Prodigy Play of the Week award goes to Jordan Attackmen Zach Pierce. In the play, Pierce takes the ball from X and sneaks from behind, slotting it past the Skyline goalie.

The sixth Prodigy Play of the Week award goes to Jordan Attackmen Zach Pierce for the second straight week. In the play, Pierce gets a great feed on a fast break, thinks fast and quick-sticks it in for the goal.

Winning by one vote, the seventh Prodigy Play of the Week award goes to Juan Diego for their great transition goal. In the play, Juan Diego Long Pole Matt Jungemann gets the ball and starts to clear. The Copper Hills ride forces him to switch hands behind his back. Jungemann then finds midfielder Tyler Buck who starts a clinical fast-break. Buck finds Luke Graney who finds Tommy Maddox for the great goal.

The eighth Prodigy Play of the Week award goes to Copper Hills for their overtime goal. In the play, Copper Hills Midfielder Sam Taylor passes it to Austin Rekouits but the Jordan goalie comes out of the crease and nudges Rekouits just enough to cause the ball to deflect off his stick and into the goal for the game winner in overtime.

The ninth and final Prodigy Play of the Week award goes to Bingham Attackmen Chris Severson. In the play, Bingham Midfielder Jeff Hunsaker takes the ball down the field and finds Severson who shoots behind-the-back for the great goal.
