FARMINGTON, UT — Under clear skies and sunshine at the Legacy Events Center in Farmington, lacrosse teams from across the state gathered for the Lacrosse Rendezvous. Comprised of in-state teams and a team from Colorado, the fun Halloween-themed tournament consisted of pumpkin shooting, a costume contest, and, of course, lacrosse.
The tournament had 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. action from 27 different club, high school, and youth programs. The Rendezvous provided a good opportunity for many players to have one last chance to play before their spring season.
Activities included pumpkin target shooting, as well as a costume contest. Some of the costume contestants included a unicorn, a chicken, and a kangaroo. Mario and Luigi also made an appearance. “We’ve seen some pretty good costumes,” said Niki Harding of Intermountain Lacrosse. A Braveheart competition was also held at the tournament. Harding told Utah Lacrosse News, “It’s a fun thing for fall. We’ve had a lot of fun events all day.”
Lacrosse vendors also appeared at the tournament, such as Storm Lacrosse, Tribal West, and others. The vendors provided a fun opportunity for lacrosse enthusiasts to check out the latest gear.
As the spring season approaches, Intermountain lacrosse will offer a winter league at the University of Utah Spence Eccles Field House for high school players. The Chill Lax tournament will also be held March 24-25, 2018. The tournament is “kind of a kick-off for freshman and sophomores and JV girls,” said Harding.
