The BYU men’s and women’s lacrosse teams will hold their annual lacrosse camps on the campus of Brigham Young University starting on July 2. The women’s camps will be held first, with high school and youth ages each holding separate camps during that week. The BYU women’s lacrosse team is coming off of a WCLA Finals appearance in Texas and has plenty of knowledge to share for young athletes. Players must provide a stick, but goggles are available for rent.

The BYU men’s lacrosse team will hold their camps beginning July 9 with the boys “Cubs” camp and the day camp held the first week. Two overnight camps for ages 12-17 will be held the following two weeks, with the Boys Elite session held July 23-26. Utah Athletics Hosts Facebook Live Event With Coach Brian Holman

The University of Utah Athletics Department held a Facebook Live event at McCarthey Field today at 4:00 pm MT, with University of Utah Men’s Lacrosse head coach Brian Holman. Holman fielded questions from fans on social media and talked about the transition from the Utah program as an MCLA school to an NCAA Division I program.

When asked about how Utah would incorporate new talent coming into the program Holman said, “[It’s a] combination of getting existing guys we have better, […] and then we’ve got to find a higher level player.”

Holman also discussed how the team would be holding open tryouts in the fall. It remains to be seen just how many players hailing from the state of Utah will be on the team for the program’s inaugural Division I season.

Holman also talked about his excitement for the sport in Utah and on the West Coast.

If we could get Utah up-and-running, that would clear the way for the west to grow rapidly. My goal is to build this state from the ground up to one of the best states in the country,” Holman said.

Concerning fan support of the program, Holman mentioned how “we just want the people first of all to be proud of us. When people leave our games I want our fans saying, ‘Man, those guys are tough, and they play fast.’ We want our fans to be loud and energetic and to root us on.”
